If you are looking to fit Van Windows on any Van model then this guide will break down the full process. Read here our step by step guide!

Tools & Materials Needed:

  • Van window glass

  • Window fitting kit (rubber seals, trim, primer, adhesive)

  • Jigsaw with fine-tooth metal cutting blade

  • Drill with step bit

  • Masking tape

  • Ruler & marker pen

  • Protective gloves & safety goggles

  • Sandpaper or file

  • Cleaning cloths & degreaser

Choose the Right Window

Before starting, ensure you have the correct type of van window for your model. Choose between:

  • Fixed windows (do not open)

  • Sliding windows (open for ventilation)

  • Bonded windows (secured with adhesive for a sleek look)

Check if your van has pre-marked cut lines inside the panel – some models do.

Mark & Prepare the Cutout

  1. Measure & Mark – Use a ruler and marker to draw the exact cutout on the van panel.

  2. Mask the Area – Apply masking tape around the cut line to prevent scratches.

  3. Drill Pilot Holes – At each corner of the cutout, drill a hole large enough to fit the jigsaw blade.

Cutting the Panel

  1. Use the Jigsaw – Insert the blade into one pilot hole and carefully follow the outline.

  2. Go Slow – Let the blade do the work to avoid jagged edges.

  3. Support the Panel – As you complete the cut, hold the metal panel to stop it from falling suddenly.

  4. Smooth the Edges – Use a file or sandpaper to smooth any sharp edges.

Preparing for Installation

  1. Clean the Cutout – Wipe down the edges with a degreaser to remove dust and metal filings.

  2. Apply Rust Treatment – Use a rust-proof primer to seal the exposed metal edges.

  3. Fit the Rubber Trim – If using a rubber-sealed window, fit the trim around the cutout edge.

Installing the Window

Rubber-Sealed Windows:

  1. Place the rubber seal around the window edge.

  2. Position the window against the van cutout.

  3. Use a pulling cord (inserted into the seal) to ease the rubber over the metal edge.

Bonded Windows (Adhesive-Fitted):

  1. Apply window primer to the van metal and window edge.

  2. Apply adhesive evenly around the cutout.

  3. Carefully place the window into position.

  4. Hold in place with masking tape while the adhesive cures (check product curing time).

Final Checks

  1. Check Seals – Ensure the window is flush and the seals are even.

  2. Test for Leaks – Spray water around the edges to confirm a watertight seal.

  3. Clean the Window – Wipe off any adhesive marks and fingerprints.
